# MCAT to preclinical completion framework

Working framework selected 2026-09-14. The goal is a bilingual teaching resource, not a claim that every medical school uses an identical two-year syllabus or that reading it provides clinical competence.

## External scope anchors

Use the [AAMC MCAT outline](https://students-residents.aamc.org/prepare-mcat-exam/whats-mcat-exam-pdf-outline) for entry-level knowledge and reasoning. Use the [USMLE Step 1 content specifications](https://www.usmle.org/exam-resources/step-1-materials/step-1-content-outline-and-specifications) as the working biomedical breadth check, not as a substitute for a complete university curriculum. The [official Step 1 overview](https://www.usmle.org/step-exams/step-1/step-1-exam-content) describes organisation by system and process. The [2024 update](https://www.usmle.org/usmle-program-updates-content-outlines-all-step-exams) explains that foundational science was redistributed, not removed. These USMLE pages were checked 2026-09-14; detailed subtopic extraction remains pending.

This is a US-oriented reference framework consistent with MCAT progression. Preserve wider content already written. Exclude any claim that a Step 1 mapping proves clinical skills, institution-specific assessment readiness, or completeness of another country's curriculum. Interview, examination and procedural passages remain educational explanations, not proof of supervised skill acquisition.

## Current evidence and gaps

- The master manuscripts have 105 chapters and 246 matched explicit narration-module identifiers. Structural parity is verified; semantic parity is not comprehensively reviewed.
- Existing chapter titles explicitly cover organ systems, anatomy, histology, development, molecular science, pathology, pharmacology, behavioural science and research methods. Titles do not establish objective-level depth.
- General chemistry now includes full paired modules 105-1 (quantitative chemistry) and 105-2 (acid–base foundations). Their 44 paired retrieval objectives have a teaching/source crosswalk. Remaining chemistry, organic chemistry and foundational physics still require dedicated prerequisite audit; two lessons are not full MCAT coverage.
- Quantitative methods have manuscript content and some cards. CARS/humanities have original supplementary practice, but unseen-passage competence is not demonstrated by recall cards.
- There are 254 paired card objectives at this snapshot, across 14 modules. Most modules still lack cards. No quota should turn a partial module into complete coverage.
- Full updated EPUB drafts now include front matter and all 105 chapters, with per-block text, navigation-target and XML/ZIP checks passing. Sample line-break preservation was repaired. EPUB conformance evidence is separate from Kobo rendering and Kindle conversion, which remain untested; see the reading-edition verification files for exact inputs and results.

## Objective-level acceptance unit

For each official topic, record its source location, a precise learner action, canonical module ID, English and Japanese teaching locations, worked example where applicable, independent retrieval/application question, stable card IDs, scientific review result, translation review result and release version. A topic can be taught in multiple modules, but the mapping must name where its required explanation actually appears.

Distinguish absent teaching, present-but-unreviewed teaching, reviewed teaching with incomplete exercises, and release-ready coverage. A shared chapter heading, source hash or successful exporter test cannot promote a topic to reviewed. Maintain unsupported or ambiguous claims as explicit repair work.

## Delivery sequence

First fill the prerequisite science gaps with paired narration modules and corresponding cards. Then audit preclinical material systematically across both discipline and organ-system dimensions, adding explanation and questions where absent. In parallel, build full reading editions from the current masters and validate text preservation, navigation, rendering and delivery. Publish bounded verified draft releases, but keep the complete goal active until coverage and all full deliverables are genuinely finished.
